Australian Beauty Journal is an independent research publication that covers skincare through the lens of science. We work with board-certified dermatologists, cosmetic chemists and clinical researchers to examine what the evidence actually says about the products and ingredients Australians put on their skin.

Every product we test is bought anonymously from ordinary retailers, the same way any consumer would buy it. We do not accept payment from brands, we do not run sponsored content and we do not sell products of any kind. Our only obligation is to the reader.

We translate peer-reviewed research, clinical trial data and laboratory findings into clear, practical information. Where the science is uncertain, we say so. Where a product fails to support its marketing claims, we report that plainly.

Our Review Process

Before any finding is published, it is reviewed by an independent panel comprising a dermatologist, a cosmetic scientist and a pharmacist. This panel assesses whether our testing methods are sound and whether the conclusions are supported by the data. Nothing reaches publication without their sign-off.
